Brittany Snow to Star in Fox Drama Pilot

Brittany Snow has been cast in the lead role of the untitled Fox drama pilot from Annie Weisman and Jason Katims based on the Australian series “Sisters,” Variety has learned.

In the Fox project, only child Julia Bechley (Snow) has her life turned upside down when it’s revealed that her father, a pioneering Nobel Prize-winning fertility doctor, used his own sperm to conceive dozens of children over the course of his career. Reeling from this explosive revelation, Julia discovers two new sisters — her former best friend and an ex-Olympic athlete. Against all odds, the women attempt to form an untraditional family and lean on each other as they grapple with their own identity crises.

Snow is known for starring in the hit “Pitch Perfect” film franchise. Her other film roles include “Prom Night,” “Hairspray,” and “John Tucker Must Die.” Her past television roles include “American Dreams,” “Nip/Tuck,” and “Guiding Light.”

She is repped by Gersh, Principal Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham.

The original “Sisters” series, produced Endemol Shine Australia, was created by Jonathan Gavin and Imogen Banks. Annie Weisman will write and executive produce the pilot. Jason Katims, Banks, Jeni Mulein, and Sharon Levy will also executive produce. Leslye Headland will direct the pilot and executive produce. Universal Television will produce in association with Endemol Shine North America.

New Movie Role: “Bushwick”

Looks like Brittany has landed a new movie role:

Pitch Perfect songbird Brittany Snow has lined up a potentially treacherous New York journey before the Barden Bellas reunite for a third outing.

The actress has boarded XYZ Films and Bullett Pictures’ Dave Bautista action vehicle Bushwick, replacing Suburgatory and Evil Dead reboot star Jane Levy, who was cast in March.

Snow will play a young woman who finds her neighborhood in Brooklyn under attack, with New York being used as a negotiation tool as Texas tries to secede from the U.S.

Bautista, fresh from the recent record-breaking bow of Spectre in the U.K., will star as a war vet who helps her cross the five blocks of Bushwick — littered with looters, local militias, invading forces and one crazy cousin — to get home and be reunited with her grandmother.

Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott, who wrote the story for Bushwick, will direct from a screenplay by Nick Damici and Graham Reznik. XYZ’s co-founder Nate Bolotin will serve as producer alongside Bullett’s Adam Folk and Joseph Mensch of Mensch Productions. Bautista and Jonathan Meisner are exec producing with Todd Brown and Nick Spicer of XYZ.

XYZ is shopping the project to international buyers at the AFM and co-repping with WME Global for U.S. sales.

Bushwick is set to start shooting in New York next month.

Snow is managed by Gotham/Principal and represented by WME and attorney P.J. Shapiro. Bautista is represented by Gersh, manager Jonathan Meisner and attorney Jay Rosenthal. Murnion and Milott are represented by Verve and managed by PYE.

His parents are played by Maria Bello and J.K. Simmons. He works in an office headed by Jane Lynch. His various friends are played by Beck Bennett, Kumail Nanjiani and Blake Cooper. Brittany Set for MTV’s New Animated Comedy “Fancy Bastards”

MTV today announced it has ordered an animated pilot presentation with the working title “Fancy Bastards” from Executive Producers Jason Micallef and Kristen Schaal alongside Underground’s Josh Turner McGuire and Trevor Engelson. Price Peterson, Ryan Sandoval and Lily Price wrote the pilot and also serve as Executive Producers. Titmouse, Inc. is the studio.

In the half-hour animated comedy, a small town is shocked to learn its five most awkward outcasts all share the same father – a notorious ginger cad who had an indiscretion filled night during a whirlwind visit to Vegas nine years ago… and just happens to be a prince. The misfits turn into royal rockstars overnight, but soon find that the “Fancy Bastard” life is no fairytale.

The stellar cast includes Brittany Snow (“Pitch Perfect”), Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, Natasha Leggero (“Neighbors”), Nasim Pedrad (“SNL”), John Roberts (“Bob’s Burgers”), Jameeliah Garrett (“Supanatural”) and Jessica Lowe (“Blended”).

“Pitch Perfect 2” Record Breaking Opening Weekend!

I’m the proudest fan girl ever right now! I hope everyone had a chance to watch “Pitch Perfect 2” this weekend! I watched it Saturday afternoon and theater was PACKED!! Brittany was fantastic (as per usual) and being a fan of hers for nearly 13 years I couldn’t help but feel so proud of our girl!! PP2 is breaking records!!:

The final tally is in, and Pitch Perfect 2 may end the weekend between $68.9M to $70.3M after a stunning Saturday night of $24.6M. Universal is going the high end on this, but everyone else in town (and we) are sticking to the lower estimate. We’ll see if the studio over-anticipated to get the $70M headline across the country (they’ve done so before). Still, the Universal film from first-time feature director Elizabeth Banks is the highest-opening musical ever (see chart below) and, as we previously reported, out-performed the $65M lifetime domestic gross of the first film.

Rentrak just noted the rarity of that, but said it’s a similar scenario to the performance of the second Austin Powers‘ film, The Spy Who Shagged Me which opened to $54.9M vs. the $53.8M that the original film earned in its domestic run. Universal is also boasting (as well it should) that PP2 is the second-highest PG-13 comedy opening ever (only behind Austin Powers Goldmember which opened to $73M in the summer of 2002). They also note that PP2 is the fifth-highest opening of the year to date and also marks the seventh time this year that a Universal film has held the No. 1 position (more than any other studio).

Brittany Snow To Star In ABC Comedy Pilot ‘An American Education’

Hey guys looks like Brittany was cast in a new pilot! Let’s hope it gets picked up, you can read a bit about it below:

Pitch Perfect‘s Brittany Snow is set as the female lead opposite Jack Whitehall in ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot An American Education, based on the BBC Three series Bad Education. British actor-comedian Whitehall, who created and starred in the original series, is reprising his role as Alfie Wickers, now a British transplant and an unorthodox young teacher in the San Diego public school system. Alfie loves his students, but his youthful, often naive enthusiasm and unconventional methods put him at odds with the test-obsessed administrators. Snow, repped by ICM Partners, Magnolia Entertainment and Ziffren Brittenham, will play Sarah McIntyre, an earnest and book-smart chemistry teacher who is the object of Alfie’s eye as her current boyfriend is leaving the country. Rosie Perez co-stars the school’s hard-assed vice principal. Craig Zisk is directing from a script by Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory.

Fox Redeveloping ‘Assistants’ With Brittany Snow

This is a few weeks old, but it might be potentially good news for Britt’s pilot that wasn’t picked up by FOX:

Fox is redeveloping The Assistants. The network and studio Warner Bros. Television have extended the options on stars Brittany Snow, Stephen Root, Catherine O’Hara and Jillian Bell with an eye toward re-piloting the comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The Assistants (previously To My Future Assistant) is based on the blog and book To My Assistant by Lydia Whitlock. The single-camera comedy revolves around assistants at a big New York law firm who band together as a family to help one another cope with the obnoxious, overbearing bosses who challenge their sanity on a daily basis. The original pilot starred Snow (Pitch Perfect) as Jen, a pretty, athletic, ambitious and tightly wound aspiring attorney who just passed the bar and is hoping for a promotion. O’Hara (the Christopher Guest movies) was Magda, one of the bitchy attorneys at the firm; Root (Boardwalk Empire) plays Jen’s boss Frank, an intense attorney who isn’t the monster he seems. Bell, for whom Assistants is in second position to Comedy Central’s Workaholics, is a recurring guest star who played Denny, a single mom and assistant at the firm whose apathy toward her job occasionally prompts her to take three-hour breaks to tend to her son — or go to the movies. Friends’ Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer penned the Warner Bros. Television pilot and executive produce alongside Lin Pictures’ Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz. Fox passed over the pilot in May. A formal pilot order has not officially been announced.
