The stars of the film “Pitch Perfect” will open the 2013 MTV Movie Awards in their first-ever live performance on April 14.
“Pitch Perfect” stars Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Ester Dean, Adam Devine, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow and host Rebel Wilson will re-unite as the dueling college a cappella groups, the Barden Bellas and Treblemakers. They will perform a mash-up of songs conceived and executed by the film’s director, Jason Moore.
The soundtrack to “Pitch Perfect” has been a surprise hit, selling 622,000 copies, according to Soundscan. A single, “Cups (Pitch Perfect’s When I’m Gone)” by actress Anna Kendrick, was sent to radio on March 26 and has immediately seen its airplay rise; it is expected to reach the Pop Songs Airplay chart within the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, the new single climbs seven spots to No. 81 on the Hot 100. Collectively, all versions of the song have sold 584,000 downloads.
The film is nominated for four MTV Movie Awards this year: Best Female and BestBreakthrough Performances (Rebel Wilson); Best Musical Moment (Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Ester Dean and Hana Mae Lee); and Best WTF Moment (Anna Camp Hack-Appella).
“Pitch Perfect’s” Wilson will host the 22nd edition of the awards. Will Ferrell and Emma Watson will receive honorary awards.
In addition, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will perform their new single, “Can’t Hold Us.”

Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow has landed the lead role in the Fox comedy pilot To My Future Assistant, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Based on the blog and upcoming book To My Assistant by Lydia Whitlock, the comedy revolves around assistants at a big New York law firm who band together as a family to help one another cope with the obnoxious, overbearing bosses who challenge their sanity on a daily basis. Snow will star as Jen, a pretty, athletic, ambitious and tightly wound aspiring attorney who just passed the bar and is hoping for a promotion. She joins a cast that also includes Catherine O’Hara as Magda, one of the bitchy attorneys at the firm; Joe Egender as a paralegal; and Melissa Tang as Claire, a meltdown-prone assistant. Friends’ Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer will pen the Warner Bros. Television pilot and executive produce alongside Lin Pictures’ Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz. Peyton Reed (Yes Man) will direct and exec produce the pilot for the single-camera comedy. For Snow, the casting marks a return to the small screen following starring roles in Harry’s Law and American Dreams. Most recently, she starred as Chloe in the musical feature Pitch Perfect and as Iris in Would You Rather. She’s repped by ICM Partners and Ziffren Brittenham.
